Day 8

“The foolish person seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under their feet.”

Dear God, I pray for happiness.

I pray that I have a cheerful heart.

I pray that others are drawn to my happy smile,
my positive attitude, and my face that shines with joy.

Day 5

Sunday is a day of rest, a day to recharge, a day to get ready for the coming week. Nana and Papa had this one on the hutch…

God,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the Courage to change the things I can,
and the Wisdom to know the difference.

Day 3

It was sad to attend a funeral mass today for a kind, gentle, little old lady from our neighborhood.

Born to a 14 year-old single mom in the 1920s she spent the first 18 years of her life in a state home. Literally lived her entire life with no “blood” family connections. You would have expected her funeral to be empty with maybe 4-5 people.

Over 100 people showed up today to celebrate her spirit. It was incredible to hear how many people were inspired and genuinely blessed to have known her.

Here is a prayer that little Catherine lived each day….

God, I pray that my mind is filled with peace and my heart is overflowed with love.

Day 2

Started with one from Linda’s favorites…going to move onto my favorite.

Loving Kindness Meditation from Sharon Salzberg http://www.sharonsalzberg.com

I do this every night.

Spend a few moments starting with yourself and wish the following:
May I be safe,
May I be healthy,
May I be happy,
May I be secure.

Move onto someone you love

Move onto a stranger… maybe someone you made eye contact with during the day that but you do not really know

Move onto someone you dislike… your enemy. I struggle with this one… until I heard the quote “Love your enemies, it will drive them crazy”

Finally wish loving kindness on all beings in the universe.
